When Bush Is No Longer President Constitution Still Empowers Him Block Subpoenas

I saw in interesting article that I wanted to share with you. The Democrats Plan to investigate the Bush administration. Yet it looks like Bush will still have power to block such a move even after he is out of the Presidency.

Lets face it, Bush may go down as one of the worst presidents in U.S. History. Only time will tell. I for one am glad we have change.  It cannot come fast enough. This reminds me of when there was a move to impeach President Nixon and President Ford Pardoned him.

President Ford Signs Nixon Pardon September 8, 1974

I hope president-elect Obama puts a stop to this fast. We have enough problems to solve in this country without this mess being dragged into it. Bush will be gone soon and we have a chance for change. Lets do the right things and put Politics aside for one. In times of National Crisis we have always been able to do this in the past.  As Americans now is the Time to Unite and get past all this.

The Best Blogs for Election Day 2008

I just saw an interesting article, I thought I would share with you. Election day is just about upon us in the U.S. and they have compiled a list of the best blogs and social media sites to go for the latest information. This is from the The Blog Herald.

Election Day 2008: The Best Blogs and Social Media Resources

Filed as Features, Interviews on October 31, 2008 11:53 pm

by Easton Ellsworth

Update 1 Nov 2008: We’ve added several links. Thanks to Jackie Sheeler for making the first suggestion. Feel free to add more in the comments!

The 2008 US presidential election will be over in about 100 hours (unless Florida can’t make up its mind again).

There are, in fact, other elections as well next Tuesday. But of course we all know the real battle is Obama vs. Palin - er, McCain.

Without further ado (and before the comment firestorm begins below), The Blog Herald presents the best blogosphere and social media destinations to track Election Day 2008, in no particular order:

1. CNN Political Ticker - Yes, it’s a mainstream media site. But it’s also a blog. The differences are so blurry now in 2008 anyway. :) It’s common to see hundreds of comments on a post here as Election Day approaches. You can subscribe to twice-daily email alerts if you don’t want the barrage of zero-hour coverage to disturb your day off from work. Bias: Obama.

2. WordPress Tag Search - Grab the feed for “Election Day,” “Joe the Plumber,” etc. The WP community always has fresh insights, opinions, rumors and rants. Bias: neutral.

3. BlogPulse - Follow hot terms’ ups and downs as the voting results come in en masse. Bias: neutral.

4. Google Blog Search - Recently fitted with a more social homepage, GBS should offer a good mix of the top Election Day stories in the blogosphere. Honorable mention: Technorati Politics channel. Bias: neutral.

5. Memeorandum - A highly addictive memetracker portal to political news, with heavy emphasis on blogs. Bias: neutral.

6. Election 2008 on Twitter - Hypnotic auto-refreshing river of Twitter updates having to do with this year’s elections. Think it’s moving fast now? Just wait until Tuesday. Bias: neutral … but Twitter users on the whole sem to favor Obama.

7. Official Barack Obama Blog and Official John McCain Blog - Can’t go wrong getting bloggy news straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak. Bias: duh.

8. BlogCatalog Politics Channel - Includes blogger discussions, groups, a blog directory and search capabilities. Bias: neutral.

9. UStream.TV - Live video from all over the place. Bias: neutral.

10. The Caucus - Another mainstream-slash-new media source of great info and perspective. By The New York Times. Bias: Obama.

11. The Huffington Post - The number one blog in the world as ranked by Technorati. Bias: Obama.

12. Daily Kos - Another gigantic political blog that will be liveblogging the whole Election Day. Bias: Obama.

Election Day 2008: The Best Blogs and Social Media Resources

Before you go in the Election Booth its important you make your decision in the facts, not the rumors many of us here. I was just made aware of a web site, where you can turn too, for factual information on the candidate. It called Factcheck.org
I would encourage you to take the time and look at this site.

I did a whole blog entry on this site...

Get Just The Facts And Only The Political facts

Posted on Fri, Sep 26, 2008 @ 09:31 PM

Its so hard in today's information enabled world to determine fact from fiction. Especially when it comes to politcs. What did Barack Obama realy say. What did John McCain really say. I published a blog entry on September 04, 2008 Titled John McCain Versus Barack Obama Comparision. It was my hopes I could provide some useful information on comparing the two. Someone commented that one of the facts was wong. When I asked the if they could validate it somehow, I have not had a response yet.

I was just made aware of a web site, where you can turn too, for factual information on the candidate. It called Factcheck.org.

To better understand this organization and it's charter, here is the about us information.

Our Mission

We are a nonpartisan, nonprofit, "consumer advocate" for voters that aims to reduce the level of deception and confusion in U.S. politics. We monitor the factual accuracy of what is said by major U.S. political players in the form of TV ads, debates, speeches, interviews, and news releases. Our goal is to apply the best practices of both journalism and scholarship, and to increase public knowledge and understanding.

The Annenberg Political Fact Check is a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. The APPC was established by publisher and philanthropist Walter Annenberg in 1994 to create a community of scholars within the University of Pennsylvania that would address public policy issues at the local, state, and federal levels.

The APPC accepts NO funding from business corporations, labor unions, political parties, lobbying organizations or individuals. It is funded primarily by the Annenberg Foundation.

As a person who is an active Blogger, I have tried hard to alwasy cite my sources. That practice is not done near enough. There is a very old saying. "Buyer Beware".  In the Internet enabled world, its important you use common sense and just becuase its wrriten down on a web site does not mean its so.

I hope this site comes in handy.

any change in existing home sales income tax.

OBAMA

28% on profit from ALL home sales.  (How does this affect you? If you sell
your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you
are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move
into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will
go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are
counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)

DIVIDEND TAX

MCCAIN

15% (no change)

OBAMA

39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock
market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement

OBAMA

Restore the inheritance tax

Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been

them to these taxes.

New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet.
New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already) New taxes on
natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity)  New taxes

Clinton's Red Phone, Who Is There For Your Database

Posted on Thu, Jun 12, 2008 @ 11:42 AM

So far, I have avoided commenting on the current presidential race. There is just too much material to comment and so little time to blog. But I have decided its time to make some comments. Do these headline bring back memories….

“Hillary Clinton's 'red-phone' TV ad sparks scare tactics charge”, Nydailynews.com

“Local Obama supporter shocked to see herself in Hillary ad”
, KING5.com

“Clinton's red-phone resurgence”, Boston.com

“CLINTON'S 'RED PHONE MOMENT'?”
, MSNBC

Clinton's "Red Phone", theAtlantic.com

They are all commenting on an Ad campaign that Hillary Clinton ran against Barack Obama. The ad goes something like this

"It's 3 a.m. and your children are safe and asleep," says a narrator as threatening music surges over dark black-and-white images.

There's a world crisis and the White House phone is ringing. "Your vote will decide who answers that call," the narrator says. "Whether it's someone who already knows the world's leaders, knows the military - someone tested and ready to lead in a dangerous world."

It ends with a photo of Clinton wearing glasses and picking up the phone.

To see the actual ad, I have included a link I found on youtube.
Hillary Clinton Red Phone Ad Youtube

This statement is very powerful “your vote will decide who will be in the White House to pick up the phone when it rings at 3 AM.”.  When it comes to business one of the most important assets you have is your database. Be it an Oracle database, a SQL Server database or some other database. For many business when that database fails you are out of business.

Let me set the scene. Its 3:00 a.m. You mission critical database has failed. You pick up the red phone to call for help. Who is going to answer the red phone and fix your down database?  Will they be a member of the “A” team ?

As Americans we have an important decision facing this country. Who will be the next president of the United States. We all need to choose wisely.

When Your database is down, and you pick up the red phone. Who is going to be there!
